The Palace of Shaki Khans is one of Azerbaijan’s most recognisable historical and architectural monuments. Dating from the late 18th century, the palace is located within Sheki’s historic centre and the Yukhari Bash State Historical and Architectural Reserve.
During the guided tour, visitors will learn about the palace’s decorated façade, colourful windows created with traditional wooden shabaka, detailed wall paintings and ornamental interiors. The architecture combines Eastern decorative motifs, local craftsmanship and the history of the Sheki Khanate.
Special attention is given to the palace’s celebrated shabaka windows. Their wooden elements are assembled using traditional craftsmanship, while the coloured glass creates striking patterns of light inside the rooms.
The guide will also introduce the political and economic history of the Sheki Khanate, the city’s position along important Silk Road trade routes and the role of the silk industry in Sheki’s development.
